Associate, Museum Experience and Development

The Museum of Chinese in America is seeking an Associate, Museum Experience and Development to support the Vice President, Museum Experience and Development who leads the overall presentation of the Museum’s content to all constituency groups, including visitors, program attendees, members, press, individual donors, institutional donors, and researchers. The Associate is a valued and critical member of the Museum Experience and Development professional team. S/he will work closely with the Vice President to manage a portfolio of Museum out-facing areas including membership, public programs, education programs, press, visitor services, tourism, and rentals. The Associate will help support the Vice President to increase earned revenue from MOCA tourism, MOCA Shop, MOCA rentals, and MOCA special events as well as enhance the MOCA brand and reputation.


The Associate, Museum Experience and Development will report directly to the Vice President, Museum Experience and Development.


Essential Functions:

  • Supporting the Vice President to manage and execute all aspects of the Museum’s Museum Experience and Development portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to integrate programs/events and maximize value to various constituency groups. Develop annual schedule of programs and events.
  • Work with team to prepare and distribute communications for special offers, programs, and events.
  • Support Vice President to provide weekly reports to senior leadership and monthly reports to professional team.


  • A BA degree or equivalent in a related area with 2-4 years of experience in these fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple program and revenue-generating functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and work as a team member.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator); editing and video experience preferred.
  • Flexibility in attending membership/development or museum events on evenings or weekends
  • Willingness to staff evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Experience in using fundraising software for prospect and contact management strongly preferred. Familiarity with Tessitura a plus.
  • Assist Vice President to provide vision, leadership and strategies for museum experience, programs, communications, and earned revenue across the organization;
  • Work closely with the MOCA team to execute the Museum’s content, communications, reputation, and presence;
  • Positive support to all colleagues and interns, volunteers, and special guests.
