MOCA Board Co-Chair and Artist/Designer Maya Lin and husband Mr. Daniel Wolf were among the luminaries at President and Mrs. Obama’s State Dinner honoring Chinese President Hu Jin-Tao.
The glittery dinner for 225 guests was held on January 19, 2011, and featured some of the brightest figures from American society: From President Clinton and Carter to action star Jackie Chan to Vogue editor Anna Wintour to MOCA’s own Maya Lin. The dinner brought forth some of the most prominent Chinese Americans, notably past MOCA honorees, the Honorable Elaine Chao and Dr. James Chao, Honorable Gary Locke (Secretary of Commerce), Mr. Jackie Chan, and Ms. Vera Wang; as well as other MOCA friends, BD Wong, Wendi Deng Murdoch, Sheryl Wu Dunn and Nicholas Kristof.
The New York Times reported that these most recent guests “made it through an intense winnowing-down process by a White House confronted by some of the toughest jockeying for invitations in recent memory.”
