[New York, NY] February 3, 2017-The Museum of Chinese in America will curate a “night market” evening featuring famed Chinese American chefs to support MOCA’s education programs on the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Lunar Feast Fest: NIGHT MARKET will take place at The Bowery Hotel on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. to welcome the Year of the Fire Rooster, 4715.

Co-Chairs of the evening, Tim and Nina Zagat of Zagat Survey and Kian Lam Kho, private chef and co-curator of MOCA’s current exhibit Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Spicy: Stories of Chinese Food and Identity in America will preside over 9 chefs, 18 specialty plates, 2 lion dances, 1 noodle puller, 1 caricature artist, and a gathering of over 400 revelers.

"Special events like Lunar Feast Fest: NIGHT MARKET are critically important to sustain the Museum. Funds raised at Lunar Feast Fest: NIGHT MARKET will support MOCA’s education program. At this time, we must work feverishly to ensure that the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and its aftermath find their way into U.S. history books and curriculum. History cannot repeat itself." said MOCA President Nancy Yao Maasbach.

At Lunar Feast Fest: NIGHT MARKET, guests will meet the chefs and taste specialty plates from Birds of a Feather, Charles Chen, Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, Chinese Tuxedo, FungTu, Junzi Kitchen, Mr. Bing, Nom Wah, and Taiwan Bear House. These chefs will be serving items like ginger scallion poached chicken congee shots, Chinese pork rillettes with plum concentrate, big eye tuna with strange flavor dressing, duck tongue in mala, and so much more. Lantern riddles, DJ Alias, and the Wan Chi Ming Dragon and Lion Dance Team will entertain all the guests.

This event complements MOCA’s current exhibit Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Spicy which celebrates 18 different regional cooking styles and 33 chefs. The Museum is grateful to all of the featured chefs, Panda Express, and The Bowery Hotel.

Individual tickets to the event are $188 and $388 per person.
