[New York, NY] June 29, 2015 - Today the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) announced the launch of Free Admission Summer Thursdays during summer 2015, to go into effect through Labor Day 2015. In celebration of its 35th anniversary, MOCA invites new audiences to experience the legacy of Chinese in America.

MOCA officially launches the program today, Monday, June 29, 2015.

“The Museum pays tribute to the history and contributions of the Chinese American diaspora as an essential component of the American fabric,” said Nancy Yao Maasbach, President of MOCA.

MOCA offers a privately-led Curators’ Tour of the Tyrus Wong exhibition, Water to Paper, Paint to Sky, on view at the Museum through September 13, 2015. These evening tours occur every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, through September 10, 2015.

On August 13, August 27, and September 10, 2015, visitors will also be able to make Tyrus Wong-inspired crafts and enjoy refreshments courtesy of Bruce Cost Ginger Ale and Tiger Beer, MOCA’s official 35th anniversary beverage sponsors.

MOCA Free First Thursdays have been made possible through the generosity of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and J.T. Tai & Co. Foundation. The Museum is expanding this offer for free admission to include all Thursdays through Labor Day in an effort to be accessible to more visitors.

MOCA is also thrilled to offer a 35th anniversary special for students — a 2-for-1 student membership — also valid through Labor Day 2015.

The retail value of a student membership is $25 for one year. Student membership benefits include, but are not limited to: unlimited free admission; 10% discount at the Museum Shop; 10% off at Red Egg restaurant; discounts on Public Programs; invitations to exhibition previews and members-exclusive events; 1 guest admitted per visit with Member; and 1 free pass to a guided Chinatown Walking Tour.*
