Capital Campaign

With an exceptional reputation already built locally and regionally, the Museum of Chinese in America is now building a new home that will reflect and magnify its caliber of work and extend its important work to a national stage.  From the quality of the design to the depth of its exhibits, the expanded facility brings visibility to a community that was once invisible, and makes memorable a legacy that was almost forgotten.  At the new MOCA, Chinese American arts, culture, and history will be shared with pride and celebrated by all.

In order to raise critical funding for the overall institutional expansion, the Museum has embarked on a $15 million fundraising campaign.  From 2007-2012, MOCA will complete a move to a new space that is five times its current size, double its programming schedule, and increase its on-site audience two-fold.  In addition, the Museum will greatly enhance the online presence of its programs, educational materials, and collections, and connect its work with individuals throughout the country – and around the world.

As of 2008, the Museum is pleased to announce that it has already raised $10 million toward its campaign. Capital expansion lead support has been provided by:

The September 11th Fund
New York City Council
New York City Mayor’s Office
Office of the Manhattan Borough President
Lower Manhattan Development Corporation
