We're throwing a party! Celebrate with hosts MOCA, AAWW, and Hyperallergic on Halloween night. Hosted by comedian SHENG WANG. Performance by MASIA ONE. Music by DJ MAS.

We're turning MOCA over for the night to you and your fabulous friends in your fabulous costumes for our first ever Halloween party. We'll have beer, wine, some boozy punch and non-alcoholic stuff too.  To top it off you won't have to trick or treat because we've got candy for you on the premises.

Come in your best super hero or super villain costume and win special prizes in our costume contest! Did we mention that our galleries will be open and you can check out our two new exhibits Marvels and Monsters and Alt.Comics?  Curated by Jeff Yang with artists Gene Yang, Derek Kirk Kim, Chirstine Norrie, and Larry Hama among others.

Lastly, DJ Mas will be on hand to keep everyone dancing all night long in our beautiful lobby: The Marvels and Monsters Ball Dance Floor.

Prizes for awesome costumes include: limited-edition Jeremy Lin t-shirts by Epic Proportions; an autographed copy of Shattered, the newly released second edition of Secret Identities, the Asian American comics anthology; a gift certificate from Midtown Comics; and original artwork by New York cartoonists Gary Sullivan, Bianca Stone, and more.

Artist bios:

DJ Mas

Mas loves music. You can find him spinning monthly at the Parkside Lounge in the LES. He has also entertained folks in many other places as a DJ or as a member of P.I.C (www.picscape.com). Follow him on twitter (@musicbymas) for up to date gig postings and other fun stuff.

Masia One

Masia One, the Singaporean born and Canadian bred MC recently celebrated the release of her third studio album Bootleg Culture in NYC. For the NYC release Masia teamed up with international choreographer Hanna Herbertson & veteran disc jockey DJ Autograph of SweJam Productions. The three performed to a packed house receiving excellent reviews from all in attendance. Look out for the Bootleg Culture tour coming to a city near you.

Sheng Wang

Sheng Wang is a Taiwanese Texan who developed and honed his comedy in the thriving standup community of the San Francisco Bay Area. He performs jokes based on personal experiences and observations and addresses common non-sense with honesty and ill logic. His refreshingly affable stage presence combined with a healthy penchant for absurdity and self-deprecation make his act hilarious and universally accessible.

He has toured with the Comedians of Comedy and American Eagle’s ‘Campus Comedy Challenge.’ He has also appeared on Comedy Central’s ‘Live at Gotham' and attended the 'Just for Laughs’ comedy festival in Montreal. Wang's half hour Comedy Central special aired in 2011. NBC also awarded him with a holding deal that same year. Wang's appearance on the John Oliver NY Stand Up Show aired in August of 2012.
