Make a splash with MOCA! Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival (端午节) with a week of family fun--filled with miniature boat races, sticky rice zongzi, and plenty more!

让我们荡起双桨!为了庆祝端午节,我们安排了一个星期的欢乐亲子活动——端午节驱五毒、包美味的粽子、以及更多其他节目。

Celebrate with us from home all week long! See the full schedule below!

从家里和我们一起庆祝!

MONDAY

The Dragon Boat Festival, typically held in June, is considered one of the unluckiest days of the year. Fend off bad luck by driving out the five poisonous pests (五毒) — the lizard, toad, centipede, spider, and scorpion!

Click here to learn more about the five poisonous pests and create a critter of your own out of clay!

Don’t have any clay at home? No worries — watch this video with MOCA Educator Taylor for a step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own cloud clay with items you have at home!

Share your finished projects with us by tagging us @MOCANYC, using the hashtags #MOCACREATE and #MOCACREATEatHome on social media, DMing us, or emailing images to education@mocanyc.org.

TUESDAY

Join teaching artist Sophia Hsu in making some Taiwanese style zongzi (粽子), one of the most beloved staples of the Dragon Boat Festival. These delicious sticky rice bundles wrapped in bamboo leaves will leave your stomach and heart filled with glee!

We’ll read books about a family celebration and a dramatic boat race before we practice some rowing moves and work together to row ourselves across a finish line!
