The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is a nonprofit institution that engages audiences in an ongoing dialogue, in which people of all backgrounds are able to see American history and society through a critical lens, to reflect on their own experiences, and to make meaningful connections between the past and the present, the global and the local, themselves and others. MOCA celebrates the living history of the Chinese experience in America by preserving and presenting the two century-long history, heritage, culture, and diverse experiences of American communities of Chinese descent. As one of “America’s Cultural Treasures,” MOCA is devoted to educating the public on this important history and to inspiring meaningful intercultural dialogues through exhibitions, education, and public programs. Since its founding in 1980, MOCA has evolved from a Chinatown history project in New York City into an ambitious reflection of the whole of Chinese American history, becoming the country’s leading museum of Chinese American history and a global destination.
Campaign Associate Role
Reporting to the Campaign Director, the Campaign Associate will be responsible for supporting campaign operations and processes. The Campaign Associate will provide administrative and operational support, including researching and updating prospect information in partnership with the Development Database Manager; maintaining the integrity of the Tessitura database; including timely entry for campaign cultivation and stewardship; managing campaign acknowledgment letters and notices for gifts, including pledge reminders; and working with staff and leadership to plan, execute, and evaluate campaign events. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and organized individual with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other staff and volunteer team members.
- Partner with MOCA’s development team to support MOCA’s mission and capital campaign goals.
- Provide significant organizing support for campaign events and activities.
- Draft donor acknowledgments and support donor stewardship processes.
- Support Tessitura input and use, including database entry, gift processing, and analyzing donor information.
- Draft donor reports and development collateral related to the campaign.
- Work closely with the Principal Gifts Officer, Director of Programs and Strategic Initiatives, Campaign Director, and Institutional and Corporate Relations Manager on development strategy and materials.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Campaign Director.
- Bachelor’s degree required. At least three years of professional experience in development or operations is a plus.
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and database management. Experience with Tessitura is a plus.
- Available for evening and weekend events and for travel as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; self-confident and articulate; motivated self-starter.
- Compensation commensurate with experience.
