Vivian Yip is a first-generation Asian American fluent in English, Mandarin, and partially Cantonese. She was born in California and moved to New York in 2018, Vivian is now a M.A. Candidate for the Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory and Museum Practices program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She holds a B.F.A. In Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design, and enjoys sewing her own clothing as well as being an avid painter.

Previous to MOCA, Vivian worked at the Metropolitan Opera where she catalogued their entire costume collection with over 1,200 pieces in their archives. She focused on the digitization and conservation of the costumes, accessories, and illustrations of the collection.
