遥想老子故里，中国极具代表性的现代诗人王家新，或许正是将多年旅居海外的感受与思索，化为清澈而沉静的新诗篇章。美国华人博物馆此次再度携手北美中文作家协会，旨在推广海外作家以移民经验孕育出的中文创作。本场座谈会将聚焦诗人王家新，邀请他分享诗集《与此同时》及其英文译本 At the Same Time 的出版历程，畅谈创作背后的心路历程，以及如何将个人经历转化为内省的文字力量，同时也将探讨新诗在翻译过程中所面临的挑战与诗意再生的可能。此外，诗人曹莉，诗人、新泽西学院副教授兼该校中国研究项目主任米家路，诗人、作家应帆，诗人、艺术家徐今今等將一起共襄盛舉谈论创作和中国诗歌。 

本次座谈会以中文为主，辅以英文，并将节选朗读诗集的英文译作。

Reflecting on the hometown of Laozi, Wang Jiaxin, a highly representative contemporary Chinese poet, has perhaps transformed his many years of overseas experiences and reflections into clear and contemplative new poetry. The Museum of Chinese in America is once again collaborating with the North American Chinese Writers’ Association to promote Chinese-language works nurtured from the immigrant experience. This talk will focus on Wang Jiaxin, inviting him to share the publication process of the English translation of his poetry collection 与此同时 (At the Same Time), discuss the creative journey behind his work, and explore how personal experiences can be transformed into introspective literary expression, as well as the challenges and poetic possibilities encountered in the process of translating modern Chinese poetry. In addition, poet Li Cao, poet and writer Jialu Mi, Associate Professor at The College of New Jersey and Director of its China Studies Program; poet and writer Ying Fan; and poet, artist JinJin Xu will also join the event to share in the conversation on writing and Chinese poetry.

The talk will be conducted primarily in Chinese, with English as a secondary language, and will feature selected readings from the English translation of the collection.

王家新简介 ABOUT Wang Jiaxin

王家新，中国当代诗人、批评家、翻译家，1957年生于湖北丹江口市，“文革”结束后考入武汉大学中文系，2006年起被中国人民大学文学院聘任为教授，近年退休后主要旅居于纽约。

王家新的创作贯穿了中国当代诗歌四十多年来的历程，著有诗集、诗论随笔集和译诗集近五十种，并产生广泛和重要影响。他的作品不仅被视为“中国当代诗歌的启示录”（北京大学教授吴晓东），也被称为“世界文学的一个重要声音”（德国汉学家顾彬），作品被翻译成多种文字，并出版有德译诗选《哥特兰的黄昏》《晚来的献诗》《旁注之诗》、克罗地亚文诗选《夜行火车》、荷兰文诗选《黎明的灰烬》以及由美国前桂冠诗人罗伯特·哈斯作序的英译诗选《变暗的镜子》（Darkening Mirror，2017)等。王家新多次应邀参加一些国际文学和诗歌活动，并在欧美一些大学讲学，做驻校诗人，曾获多种国内外诗歌奖、诗学批评奖、翻译奖和荣誉称号。美国近年由中国文学研究界编撰出版的《1949年以来的中国诗人》这样评介：“王家新对当代中国诗歌产生了深远的影响，不仅因为他作为一个诗人，也在于他作为批评家和翻译家的角色。王家新诗意的声音显得格外严肃、清晰和坚定，致力于探索个人与历史、命运、文化传承和人性的关系。”

旅居纽约期间，王家新先后应荷兰文学基金会邀请在阿姆斯特丹做驻留作家（2022），在美国、加拿大、奥地利一些大学、国际文学节、作家中心、图书馆讲学、朗诵和主持一些诗歌活动。他的第二部英译诗选《与此同时》(At the Same Time)已于2025年秋在美国出版。该诗选受到多位美国著名诗人、国家图书奖和普利策奖获得者的高度称赞，著名诗人简·赫斯菲尔德（Jane Hirshfield）这样热情举荐王家新的这部新诗集：“一位世界性的诗人在这些有力的翻译中进入英语。我怎么向读者赞扬他的诗都不为过。”

Wang Jiaxin is an eminent contemporary Chinese poet, essayist, and translator. As an important influence on Chinese poetry, Wang’s work has been translated into many languages, regarded as “an important voice in world literature” (Wolfgang Kubin). He has won many awards domestically and internationally. A collection of his translated poems in German, Nachgereichte Gedichte, was published in Austria in 2017. Tagebuchgedichte was published in Austria in 2023. Night Train was published in Croatia in 2017. Een asgrauwe dageraad was published in the Netherlands in 2021. His collection of translated poems in English, Darkening Mirror, with a foreword by former US Poet Laureate Robert Hass, was published in the United States in 2017. His poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, American Poets and The Kenyon Review. Wang has been a poet-in-residence at the Dutch Literary Foundation (Amsterdam, 2022) and the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa (2013). John Crespi, Director of Asian Studies at Colgate University, has extolled his work：“Wang Jiaxin has exerted a far-reaching influence over contemporary Chinese poetry not just as a poet but also for his role as a critic and translator. Wang’s poetic voice stands out for the gravity, clarity, and resolve with which it explores the individual’s relation to history, destiny, cultural inheritance, and humanity.”

Wang Jiaxin was born in Hubei province and graduated from Wuhan University. He is a professor at Renmin University of China for years—he now spends most of his time in New York. His second collection of translated poems in English, At the Same Time, will be published by Arrowsmith Press in the fall of 2025.

米家路 Jialu Mi

1988年毕业于北京大学，获比较文学硕士学位；1996年毕业于香港中文大学，获比较文学博士学位；2002年毕业于加州大学戴维斯分校，获跨文化与电影研究博士学位。现为新泽西学院英语系和世界语言与文化系副教授，并兼任该校中国研究项目主任。 

他的学术研究领域涵盖东西方现代诗歌、电影与视觉研究、文化批评理论以及亚裔美国离散文学和生态文化。他的英文著作有《1919-1949中国现代诗歌中的自我塑造与现代性》（2004）、《环境挑战时代的中国生态电影》（合编，2008）。他主编了美籍华裔离散诗选《跨越海洋的诗歌》（2014）和诗选《诗歌能激励人心：疫情时代的全球华文诗歌选》（2022）。中文学术著作有《道与路：中西诗学中的幻象与穿越》（2017）、《道与路：中西诗学中的幻象与幽灵》（2017）、《身体诗学：现代性、自我塑造与中国现代诗歌 1919-1949》（2020）。著有中英双语诗集《深呼吸》（2019）和《虫洞里的玫瑰》（即将出版）。 

Jialu Mi holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature from Beijing University (1988), a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (1996), and a second Ph.D. in Cross-Cultural and Film Studies from the University of California, Davis (2002). He is currently an Associate Professor in the English Department and the Department of World Languages and Cultures at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, where he also serves as the Director of the China Studies Program.   

His academic research spans modern poetry from East and West, film and visual studies, cultural criticism theory, as well as Asian-American diaspora literature and eco-culture. His English-language works include Self-Fashioning and Modernity in Modern Chinese Poetry, 1919-1949 (2004) and Chinese Ecocinema in the Age of Environmental Challenge (co-edited, 2008). He edited an anthology of diaspora poetry by Chinese-Americans, Poetry across Oceans: Selected Poems by Chinese-American Diaspora Poets (2014), and the global Chinese-language pandemic poetry collection, Poetry Can Inspire (2022). His Chinese-language academic works include The Dao and The Routes: Mirage and Crossings in Chinese and Western Poetics (2017), The Dao and The Routes: Phantasmagoria and Spectrality Chinese and Western Poetics ( 2017), and Body Poetics: Modernity, Self-Fashioning  and Modern Chinese Poetry, 1919-1949 (2020). He is also the author of the Chinese-English bilingual poetry collection Deep Breaths (2019) and The Wormhole Rose (Forthcoming). 

应帆 Ying Fan

作家、诗人，北美中文作家协会副会长，现居纽约长岛。著作包括诗集《我终于失去了迷路的自由》《春天已及梦境》、长篇小说《有女知秋》、中短篇小说集《漂亮的人都来纽约了》、及即将出版的散文集《一个凤凰男和半个纽约客》等多种。应帆的诗歌曾发表于《诗刊》《香港文学》等杂志，小说作品发表于《青年作家》《鸭绿江》等，散文作品发表于《美文》《世界日报》副刊，并长期担任网刊《新语丝》编辑。  

Ying Fan, a writer and a poet, vice president of American Association of Chinese Writers, currently lives in Long Island, NY. He has published poetry collections I Have Finally Lost the Freedom of Getting Lost and Springing into Dreamland, a novel A Woman Named Zhiqiu,  a collection of short stories All the Beautiful People Have Come to New York,  as well as a forthcoming book of essays One Phoenix Man and Half a New Yorker. Mr. Ying’s literary works have appeared in The World Journal, The Poetry, Young Writers,  Hongkong Literature etc.  He  has been an editor with the net literary magazine New Threads since 1998. 

曹莉 Li Cao

曹莉（笔名楚鸿、L. B. Tsau），留学并旅居美国二十年，长期任职于国际财经新闻机构，担任英文记者与编辑。业余时间热爱诗歌创作与文学编辑工作，现为纽约《一行》诗刊编辑及纽约法拉盛诗歌节执行组委。著有诗集《年龄的独白》。现代诗、译诗、散文与随笔等作品发表于北美、中国大陆及港澳台地区多种文学期刊和主要报刊。作品多次入选海内外诗文选集及北美中文作协年刊，并在北美华文文学征文活动中屡获奖项。

Li Cao, known in her literary work as Chu Hong or L. B. Tsau, is a financial journalist by profession and a poet by passion. She writes and translates poetry and essays between English and Chinese, with her work appearing in literary journals and major newspapers across North America and China. She published her debut poetry collection, Soliloquies of Age, in 2023. Her writing has also been featured in numerous anthologies and in the annual collections of the American Association of Chinese Writers, earning recognition at literary events for overseas Chinese communities throughout North America.

徐今今 JinJin Xu

徐今今，诗人，艺术家。1994年出生于上海，现工作与生活于澳门、上海、纽约。毕业于纽约大学MFA，曾为Lillian Vernon 研究员担任客座诗歌教授，目前为纽约巴德学院 Moving Image Diversity 研究员。首部英文诗集《There Is Still Singing in the Afterlife》荣获美国诗歌协会 (Poetry Society of America)乔治-博金纪念奖，并被《纽约时报》誉为“造访上海时必读之作”。

徐今今的艺术作品，其影像、装置和行为艺术等媒介，源自诗歌和“见证诗学”，不断追问遗忘与错忆、自我与自我消隐—通过审视亲密关系中的禁忌，以及那些探测我们共情边界的陌生关系，倾听潜伏于集体记忆中的幽灵。2017年，在美国Thomas J. Watson基金的资助下，徐今今曾为她的艺术系列开始为期一年的九国之旅。个展包括：上海昊美术馆、澳门Butter Room、纽约重音社。群展包括：澳门国际艺术双年展、上海双年展青策计划、北京声音艺术博物馆、纽约移民艺术家双年展、以及柏林Harun Farocki研究所等。

JinJin Xu，b. 1994 Shanghai, based in Macau, Shanghai, and New York。JinJin is the winner of Poetry Society of America’s George Bogin Memorial Award, she has received honors from Southern Humanities Review, Best New Poets, the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, the Flaherty. In 2023, she was named by Forbes China as one of the “100 Most Influential Chinese.”Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Robb Report, Harper’s Bazaar Art, The Art Newspaper, and Art China.

Solo shows include the How Art Museum Shanghai, Butter Room Macao; select group shows: Macao International Art Biennial, Shanghai Biennial Youth Curator Program, New York Immigrant Artist Biennial, and Berlin’s Harun Farocki Institute.

JinJin received her BA from Amherst College and traveled for a year across nine countries as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow, recording docu-poems with women experiencing unusual forms of dislocation. She received her MFA in Poetry from NYU, where she was a Lillian Vernon fellow.

JinJin’s debut poetry chapbook There Is Still Singing in the Afterlife was named by the New York Times as “a must-read when visiting Shanghai.”she is currently the Moving Image Diversity Fellow at Bard College, New York.
