MOCACREATE: Lunar New Year Museum Makeover with Teaching Artist Yu Rong
February 7, 2026, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

It’s back! Put a spin on a MOCA tradition— help welcome the New Year by making handmade decorations to liven up the Museum. Join teaching artist Yu Rong in transforming our space with colorful creations, which will be on display through our annual Lunar New Year Family Festival!
On February 7th, we’ll be joined by our friends at Avenues New York for a bilingual read-aloud of some favorite Lunar New Year tales at 2:30 pm. Don’t miss this chance to start the Lunar New Year season by learning, or brushing up on, some Mandarin vocabulary for the holiday! Best for kids ages 2 to 6, older and younger siblings welcome.
We’ll also be joined by our friends from ALT Ally for decorative paper lantern making and a sneak peak of their special Year of the Horse boxes. Year of the Horse boxes from OliOli will be on sale during the event.
Paint, build, craft, and collage with us! Inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and local artists, MOCACREATE explores different themes every month. MOCACREATE workshops are designed with families in mind, but all are welcome!
FREE with admission! RSVP optional, but appreciated. MOCA Family Level Members should enter their promo code to access complimentary tickets.
